  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Salt

  • A cup of sour-yogurt

  • 1 tablespoon ghee

First add 3 cups of flour to a large bowl

Add 1 teaspoon baking soda.
Many people have a misconception that you have to give yeast to make tandoori ruti. But baking soda should always be used to make it.

Stir in the flour and baking soda so that the two ingredients blend together.

Add your amount of sugar and salt

Add a cup of sour yogurt

Add 3 tablespoons of oil

Now gently spread the ingredients to make the dough, add water as needed. Then make the perfect dough

Leave the dough for 10-15 minutes. Make tandoori ruti with as much portion as you like, cut that portion.

Do the same shape we make when making ruti with this kind of flour dough.

However, keep in mind that the way we make a simple ruti can not be as thin as it is.

Use the yeast agent to keep the roti soft for some more time after cooking. Use baking powder or baking soda.

Just as bread is to soften dough, there is no need to soften dough in making tandoori roti. The flour needs to be kept a little stiff.

The flour needs to be thickened. You need to thicken the flour 6 inches to be precise. Otherwise the tandoori roti will not blow well.

Always try to use a frying pan to make tandoori roti. Refrain from using non-stick frying pans. Non-stick frying pans may not give you full tandoori roti. So always use a pan or stove.

Make the roti a little smaller. The skillet is always rotated to brown the top of the roti. It is never possible to cook a bigger roti in the pan. So it is likely to get stuck.

Do not use too much dry flour when turning the roti round. It will not be possible to stick the tandoori roti to the surface of the pan. When you go to put Roti in Skilllet, you must clean the extra flour with an extra cloth.

When you have cooked two to three tandoori roti, sprinkle some water on your skillet.

UPDATE: When we were making tandoori roti a few days ago, we wrapped it with cotton towels as an alternative, as there was no box to keep it warm. From experience, this will keep your tandoori roti hot for a long time.

It is usually served hot with pulses and curry. As well as many add some salad and pickles for extra flavor. Like today my mom did vegetables and chicken at home. We ate these curries at night with tandoori roti.

Any curry with roti can be eaten effortlessly. People taste Roti in different ways through different vegetables.

Tandoori Roti is so popular in South Asian countries that it is usually eaten with any curry with tandoori roti and it is tasty to eat any curry with roti.

You can also eat Roti with fruit during the fruit season! Hahaha, that sounds awful, isn’t it? But many people in our area eat like this. It depends on one’s taste.

However, it is very tasty to eat tandoori roti with sweets. You can try it if you want. And if you have Golap Jamun or Rasgolla, Sandesh, Kalojam etc. with delicious sweets to eat with tandoori, then it is absolutely perfect dish.

How to heat roti?
